Partnerships

Partnerships and collaboration are essential for growth and innovation.  To successfully navigate the complex challenges of education, it is essential to work together, leverage each other's strengths, and share resources. TNTC's bold initiative to create a national network of teacher apprentice programs requires collaborative efforts that foster creativity, improve problem-solving, and open doors to new possibilities.  TNTC establishes partnerships with organizations in each city that serve as pipelines to its CAP and Fellows programs, with strategic partners to support funding initiatives and, most importantly, with area K-12 schools that host the CAP Program.

Benefits to the Partner K-12 School hosting CAP

There are many advantages for the partner K-12 school that hosts 10 to 15 CAP students a year.

  • No cost - there are no out-of-pocket costs to the school

  • Contributions of Teacher Apprentices - Working side-by-side with classroom teachers, these bright, committed Teacher Apprentices provide an extra pair of hands and the latest, evidence-based best practices to the school.  Collectively, they help advance student success within the classrooms where they work and within the school as a whole.
  • Involvement of K-12 teachers - K-12 teachers have various opportunities to be involved.  Many serve as mentors; others as presenters in various graduate courses and, if qualified, as lead instructors in the M.Ed. program.
  • Impact - Over time, the program becomes part of the fabric of the school.  Its presence is evidenced throughout the school and in the dimensions of vibrancy and innovation inherent in the partnership. Being trained on site, graduates are in a strong position to be hired by the school and/or the district. The program becomes a supportive force in the school with ramifications for the school that include a positive influence on teacher recruitment, teacher retention and learning for K-12 students.
