SCHOLARSHIP COMMITMENT PASSION
Scholarship, Commitment and Passion are central College values that are reflected in our curriculum and modeled by the TNTC community.

Scholarship
We believe that, akin to the fields of law and medicine, teaching is a profession with scholarship at its core. The most successful teachers possess deep and sophisticated understandings of both the content they teach and the pedagogy involved in their teaching. Their practice is informed by thoughtful consideration of education's philosophical approaches, theories and research - intertwined with their actual experiences of teaching. Emphasis on scholarship is infused throughout our programs.

Commitment
We believe that each teacher must be committed to every student – to their academic success and personal growth – regardless of who that student is or what that student brings to the classroom. Commitment calls for a belief in the possibility of success and a willingness to devote the necessary work, time and energy to strive for that success. Our graduate faculty, mentor teachers and graduate students demonstrate that commitment throughout their work in our programs.

Passion
Passion is what inspires us; it’s what makes us genuine and drives us to be better. Vibrant, thriving classrooms are filled with teachers and students who are passionate about what they are doing. Passion is fueled by dynamic relationships among teachers and students. Passion is centered around a rich curriculum that engages students in sophisticated study and authentic, experiential work. Learners form communities in these kinds of settings, and they thrive. Our goal is to model and foster this kind of passion in all that we do.
