Our History
The National Teachers College is a recently founded private college built on nearly 25 years of experience with school-embedded graduate education. Its founding grew from programs that brought graduate study directly into schools and demonstrated the value of connecting advanced learning with the daily practice of educators.
TNTC's founding president brought 14 years of direct experience with these programs to the creation of the College, carrying forward what had been learned while building an institution specifically designed around this approach. Drawing on the tradition of laboratory schools, TNTC makes the school itself an essential environment for professional learning - bringing faculty, evidence-based knowledge, collaboration and reflection into the places where teaching and learning occur. This experience forms the foundation of TNTC's commitment to preparing and developing exceptional educators through graduate education that is embedded in schools, grounded in practice and designed for impact.
We are dedicated to achieving equity for America’s students by preparing educators who are committed to success for all students, especially those from under-served communities. We have lived the impact that this kind of program can have on the educators it prepares and develops, as well as on the K-12 teachers and students where the program is housed. Through implementation of our programs in K-12 schools and our partnerships with area stakeholders, we build a community of educators striving to bring quality education to every learner, everywhere.
The College is authorized by the Ohio Department of Higher Education to grant the Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree. TNTC adheres to the standards and requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and to those of the national accreditor for teacher preparation programs: ACCSC (Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges).

THE POWER OF
SCHOOL-EMBEDDED LEARNING
At The National Teachers College, the school is not simply the setting for graduate education, it is intrinsic to our pedagogical approach. Schools provide the authentic context in which evidence-based knowledge can be examined, applied, reflected upon and refined through practice. Faculty, mentors, graduate students and colleagues learn together, while the realities of students, classrooms, and school communities provide depth and relevance to graduate study. Drawing on the tradition of laboratory schools, TNTC brings graduate education into existing schools - making the school a powerful environment for professional learning and educator development. This school-embedded philosophy provides the foundation for TNTC's programs today and those we will develop in the future.
CAP - OUR CLASSROOM-BASED APPRENTICE PROGRAM
M.ED. and TEACHING LICENSE
CAP is TNTC's one-year, school-embedded pathway to a Master of Education degree and teacher licensure. During this 12-month program, CAP candidates spend the academic year immersed in a partner school, learning alongside an accomplished mentor while completing graduate coursework taught on site by TNTC faculty. Candidates connect evidence-based learning with the realities of the classroom every day, developing the knowledge, judgement and practical expertise necessary to enter the profession ready to teach and make an impact. CAP is designed for success for recent liberal arts graduates, as well as professionals who are changing careers.
FELLOWS M.ED. PROGRAM
Relevance, curricular flexibility and community. These are the hallmarks of the Fellows Program - TNTC's graduate program for practicing educators who want to deepen their knowledge, strengthen their practice, and expand their impact. Through in-person, cohort-based learning experiences, Fellows connect evidence-based research with the real challenges and opportunities they encounter in their schools and classrooms. TNTC's school-embedded Fellows Program creates a professional learning community in which experienced educators learn with and from one another while earning their M.Ed. The result is graduate study that honors Fellows participants as educators, colleagues and leaders in their schools and communities.
PARTNERSHIPS
Teaching is complicated. To meet today's challenges for success requires a collaborative effort from strategic partners across the spectrum. Foremost for TNTC are its partnerships with the K-12 schools that host its M.Ed. programs, along with agencies and foundations that support such initiatives.
